Admin Workspace: Collages

Create multi-image print templates and use every control in the collage layout editor.

Admin -> Products -> Collages
The Collages tab in Products will display any existing Collages. You can duplicate, edit or delete a collage.
Collages are treated as a product by ips-session and can be added to a package or pricelist.Collages

Creating a new Collage.

Before you start building your template it helps to plan the dimensions out on a piece of paper. 
  1. Work out how many images the collage will have
  2. How big are the gaps between the images
  3. What are the margins around the images
  4. Add up the dimensions to calculate the overall width and height of the collage
  5. Don't worry if you don't get it exactly right, you can always adjust the size of the collage while you are editing it.
 Select + New Collage to create a new collage
  1. Enter the template name and price. (Price is mandatory because it is treated as a product)
  2. Set the print canvas dimensions.
  3. Build the design in the layout editor.
  4. Select Save to validate and publish the template.

An invalid or empty layout is rejected when you try to save it.

Layout editor controls

  • New placeholder adds an image opening with the dimensions you specify. Once the placeholder has been placed you can still resize it.
  • Drag and resize: positions and sizes the selected opening.
  • Snap to grid is set at 1/2" size. It helps keep edges and spacing consistent but you can turn snapping off for more flexibility
  • Align Canvas: places selected placeholders in the centre of the canvas
  • Distribute: creates even spacing between selected openings.
  • Rotate: changes the orientation of an opening. (Be aware if you rotate a placeholder e.g. by 180 deg the image will appear upside down)
  • Delete: removes the selected opening from the layout.
  • Use the 'undo' icon or Ctrl+Z to reverse an action.
The order in which you create and add the placeholder will be reflected in the final order. The order pdf will indicate which image corresponds to which placeholder.

Duplicate and delete

A saved Collage can be edited, duplicated or deleted. Duplicate immediately creates an independent copy for further editing. Delete removes the template immediately, so verify that it is no longer needed before selecting it. Editing dimensions or placeholders changes future uses of the template; saved cart and order snapshots preserve already approved designs where supported.
